"Get over style and packaging! The message is what matters."~ Pastor Brandon Nicewonger
Our church has made a commitment to be "for other churches." As members of the body of Christ, we want other churches to be successful and to grow too. For some reason, Christians often get caught up in legalistic judgment of other churches because of the style of their music, their dress code, the age of the pastor, minor doctrinal arguments etc. When I was in college, I was actually told by a leader at the church where I attended that I was no longer welcome to be involved in missions work with my college group because I had chosen to serve as a youth leader at another church that he didn't approve of (despite the fact that it was a God-fearing, Bible teaching church!) Can you imagine a church leader denying a sincere Christian the opportunity to do mission work?!
Let's remember to keep our focus on the Gospel. Let's encourage other believers to continue to pursue their relationship with God. Let's encourage other churches to continue in their ministries. And let's be thankful that we have been given freedom and forgiveness by our Lord Jesus Christ!
Just as Jesus told those "who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everybody else...Everyone who exalts himself will be humbled and he who humbles himself will be exalted." Luke 18:9-14, The parable of the pharisee and the tax collector.
